These agencies provide access to work experiences or internships that provide planned, structured learning opportunities that take place in the workplace for a limited period of time. They pay be paid or unpaid, subsidized or unsubsidized and can occur in private, for-profit, non-profit, or public sectors work places. The goal of a work experience or internship opportunity is for the youth to gain exposure to the working world and its requirements to help youth acquire the personal attributes, knowledge, and skills needed to obtain a job and advance in employment.
