Manufacturing Technology Skills Training for Springfield Residents

wired-design-ford-techshop-detroit-patent-innovation-program-mill-operatorA No-Cost Training Program in Manufacturing Technology Skills is available for Springfield Residents. The classroom training will be held at the New Bright Nights Storage and Technical Training Facility in Forest Park with the technical shop-floor training to be facilitated at the Roger L. Putnam Technical Academy in Springfield beginning in January 2017. This 300 hour, 27 week program, late afternoon-early evening training will provide trainees foundational skills curriculum in the following:

  • Shop Safety
  • Applied Math
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Composition of metals and other materials
  • Machining Theory
  • Using Measurement Devices such as calipers, micrometers and gauges
  • Quality Control
  • Introduction to basic shop equipment and tools
  • Introduction to manual and CNC machine operations

Eligibility Requirements

  • Resident of Springfield
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • You are legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Passing a basic test of math, reading and locating information
  • Completing a basic Bennett Mechanical Test
  • All testing will be done at either FutureWorks
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Youth and veterans are encouraged to apply
