The Regional Employment Board of Hampden County (REB) has accepted a leadership role of the Western Mass Information Technology Partnership. The “Western Mass Information Technology Partnership” is an alliance of businesses, community and four-year colleges, economic development, workforce development and secondary school professionals convened to address the skills gap and misalignment of IT job applicants stated by business and industry employers. The partnership proposes to address the skills misalignment and to increase regional IT training capacity. In addition the collaborative has a focus on the IT workforce pipeline and the projected shortage of qualified IT workers in 2020.
The REB convenes quarterly round table meetings of the partnership to have IT subject matter experts present information on IT topics of interest and to discuss new and innovative services, software, hardware, applications and business development. in addition, the round table provides an update on what is occurring in IT across business and industry, education, economic and workforce development.
